Weather was not going to deter our trip postponed from last year ....my treasured friend Nancy Kendall arranged this wonderful private trip for us and even rain could not take away from the extraordinary beauty found here.
Built between1656 and 1661 to be the undoing of the owner Nicolas Fouquet who was Louis XIV's minister of finance. Following the opening Louis had Fouquet thrown into prison where he died. Garden jealousy got you into trouble it seems! Landscaper, André Le Nôtre went on to design gardens at Versailles and inspired formal gardens in Europe for more than a century.
Thank you to Nancy...see you in October mon amie!
This would have been the perfect day for a warm bath in your copper lined bathtub....
