ANOTHER BAYEUX HIGHLIGHT....

The Musée D'Art et D'Histoire Baron Gérard (MAHB) is situated in the historical centre of Bayeux. Housed in the former Bishop's palace (11th - 16th centuries) they presented collections brilliantly in 14 innovative stages! Covers all aspects of artistic creation in Europe from Prehistory to the 20th century. This is special and current!

Creative lace sculptures were placed throughout the Musée which brought surprise and contrast to the permanent exhibits....this is the place for lace!

Prehistoric finds from the Bayeux area..

Till death do us part ....and it did.

The restored ceiling of the Chapel....

Creative Louis ceiling with chairs from his era...
And of course if you are a French Baker you have your own Ceremonial mace from the French Bakers Guild.

And then there was lace....

This kind lace maker offered to let me try my hand! Can you picture it...look at all those pins!!!

    1. The Bayeux Tapestry is a wool yarn embroidery on a linen cloth created by Queen Matilda wife of William the Conqueror. The majority of specialists now believe that the Tapestry was made in England in Canterbury by a team of English and Norman embroiderers. Making lace is truly an art and it was a first time experience to see how it is done. Now have a real appreciation for its beauty!!! xxx
